WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Jack Kingston recently welcomed more than 100 high school students from the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System to Washington, D.C. The students, members of the Gulfstream Aerospace Corp.-sponsored Student Leadership Program (SLP), spent several days touring museums, monuments and memorials in Washington with their teachers and SLP community advisors.

“This is a great example of how community and business leaders can get involved in local schools to encourage excellence in education,”said Kingston.“I commend the people of Gulfstream for their efforts and these students for their hard work earning a trip to see government in action.”

SLP is a community initiative designed to equip students with tangible skills to explore options beyond the classroom. SLP encourages higher grades, lifelong learning and personal development. The focus of the program is to give students skills and life experiences that will benefit them after graduation.
