Jack spoke on the House floor this evening and pointed out that, without a single vote from Congress, the Federal Reserve last year spent hundreds of billions of dollars bailing out firms like Bear Stearns and AIG. Now there’s a dangerous proposal in Congress that would give the Federal Reserve and the FDIC permanent bailout authority to keep bailing out firms without approval. This will endanger our fiscal policy, create an unfair competitive advantage for those firms dubbed “too big to fail” and will encourage risky behavior as financial firms realize “Uncle Sugar” is there to bail them out. It’s time to stop the bailouts.
In case you missed it, Savannah’s WSAV-TV caught up with Jack yesterday to talk health care reform and where he sees the debate going.
Jack supports targeted reforms that will address the fundamental flaws in our health care system without burdening future generations with an untenable debt.
Jack speaks on the House floor during debate on Speaker Pelosi’s nationalized medicine bill. In his remarks he exposes the results of Pelosi’s plans: a failed “stimulus,” bungled Cash 4 Clunkers, the highest deficit in our history, and dithering on national security. Now she wants to tackle health care, by killing jobs, cutting coverage, and raising taxes and premiums. It’s time to kill the bill, defeat the Pelosi Plan and advance the cause of patient-centered reform.
Jack spoke on the floor of the House today during debate on the Pelosi Plan to takeover health care. He notes that, in January, the House passed the Pelosi Plan for the Economy and unemployment rose. In May, the House passed the Pelosi Plan for Cap and Tax and the unemployment rate rose. Today, there are more unemployed persons in America than ever before and the House debates the Pelosi Plan for Nationalized Medicine. How many more people will have to lose their job before the House rejects Pelosi’s plans?
What do you get from a 1,990 page monstrosity crafted by Speaker Pelosi to nationalize medicine? Jack answers that question on the House floor: premium increases, tax increases, and Medicare cuts to pay for a $1 trillion bill to insert a bureaucrat between you and your doctor.
After President Obama and Speaker Pelosi got their $787 billion “stimulus,” what happened? Unemployment went up. Why follow that model for health care? Republicans have offered a targeted alternative. To learn more visit http://kingston.house.gov/healthcare
In case you missed it, Jack appeared last night on Fox News’ Red Eye to discuss Speaker Pelosi’s inclusion of hate crimes legislation in a bill meant to provide for our troops, a massive program to pay off Taliban, and the possibility of passing Speaker Pelosi’s $1 trillion health care takeover.
As we noted earlier, Speaker Pelosi’s “public” unveiling ceremony on the steps of the Capitol wasn’t quite so public as one would think.
Republican Whip Eric Cantor aptly points out that conventional wisdom would say that the “public” unveiling of the public option on the steps of public property would involve public access. Not so in Washington.
That’s right. Last night, House members won in their annual football game with the Capitol Police. Roll Call’s got the story and the video below. Jack played on the defense and helped force two interceptions.
Jack spoke on the House floor today to talk about how Speaker Pelosi plans to pay for her $1.2 trillion takeover of our nation’s health care: higher taxes, higher premiums and cuts to Medicare.
Included in those cuts to Medicare are an estimated 6 million seniors who will be forced off their Medicare Advantage plan, cuts to rural nursing homes and hospitals which will be forced to shut their doors and a 20% increase in Medicare Part D premiums.
Last week, Jack held a press conference to highlight increasing legislative support for his efforts to increase accountablity and transparency to the Obama Administration’s increasing use of czars to advance its out-of-touch policies outside the constitutionally-mandated advice and consent process. In case you missed it, Jack was on Fox Business Network’s Cavuto last night discussing his ongoing efforts to bring more transparency and accountability to President Obama’s unprecedented use of czars.
In case you missed it, Jack appeared on Fox News’ Your World with Neil Cavuto this afternoon to discuss the resignation of Van Jones, President Obama’s scandal-plagued Green Jobs Czar, as well as Jack’s ongoing efforts to increase transparency and accountability in the President’s unprecedented reliance on czars to advance his policies. Earlier this year, Jack introduced HR 3226 which would withhold funding from any czar who has not been confirmed by the U.S. Senate in accordance with Article II, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution. Senator Mike Enzi of Wyoming delivered this week’s Republican Weekly Address and discusses Republican concerns about the health care bills introduced by congressional Democrats as well as commonsense reforms thus far ignored in the “go-it-alone” approach they’re taking.Among the concerns detailed by Senator Enzi are:
The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office’s analysis shows that the current bills will raise costs, not lower them
The bills expand comparative effectiveness research which many fear would lead to rationing of care
Senator Enzi also highlights reforms supported by Jack in the current debate including:
Promoting more and better choices when it comes to health care and giving individuals the right to chose the best plan for them
Giving small businesses the ability to form Association Health Plans which would give them the same purchasing and negotiating power as large corporations
Reforms to the current tax code with respect to health care which would give everyone an equal footing
Greater incentives for and education about preventive medicine which would bring about a healthier America

It is important for the American people to know the numbers relevant to the House Democrats 1,018-page “Americas Affordable Health Choices Act”, H.R. 3200. All Americans deserve access to affordable healthcare; however, the answer to high healthcare costs does not lie with government involvement, increased regulation, or mandates. In fact, those steps often depress the efficiency of programs and create additional costs. The video below shows just a few of the ways this bill will impact the American people if passed.
